Housewarming is a movement-based, expressionistic look into what it’s like to be from somewhere else no matter where you are.

Embodied by five performers, one character named Anashe invites her audience into her home, reflecting on the sacrifices she’s made and growth she’s gained from stretching her cultural identity to its limits in order to blend in. But what happens when she finally decides to take up space, and invent a true home for herself?

Housewarming was performed as part of Theatre Peckham’s 2022 Young, Gifted and Black Season, a selection of programming focused on providing a platform at a crucial stage in young Black theatremakers’ careers.

A warm, generous experience, with a bubbly cast that is great fun to watch.
