A Streetcar Named Desire

Directed by Rebecca Frecknall

Winner of the 2023 Olivier Award for Best Revival

A heart-wrenching collision between illusion and reality, Tennessee Williams’ masterpiece tells the tale of former Southern Belle, Blanche, as she embarks on a turbulent journey of change, loss and frailty.

Equipped with a dark past, Blanche (Patsy Ferran) has no choice but to visit her estranged sister, Stella (Anjana Vasan), forced to meet the brutish Stanley (Paul Mescal) who will stop at nothing to uncover the truth. Will it force Blanche’s fragile world to fracture?

A Streetcar Named Desire is regarded as one of the most important plays of the twentieth century, winning countless awards since its debut in 1947. Frecknail’s brilliant revival is expected to be no different, as it’s already received critical acclaim, with the three actors’ performances dubbed “bewitching” by the Guardian and “outstanding” by Financial Times.
